Provinsiale wildveiling

TFS now officially Central University of Technology, Free State

On 29 March 2004 the Technikon Free State officially announced that the central government has gazetted that the name of the institution from this day be changed to Central University of Technology, Free State. The new name would also officially carry its equivalent translations in Afrikaans and Sesotho.
For the former TFS, who opened in 1981 with 285 students, but has grown to the present enrolment of 11 000 students on a modern and well-equipped campus of its own, it is an ideal that has become reality. Especially for the rector, Prof. Bertus Koorts, who since 1997 has explicitly expressed the view that this traditional technikon has become outdated and should redefined and repositioned in order to keep pace with the new economic and social requirements in SA, it is a dream that has come true.
Going out from the vision “Progress through Science, Engineering and Technology”, the Central University of Technology (CUT) will, according to Koorts, “address the need for skills development as a major factor in the central region's and broader SA's success in creating jobs and prosperity.”

Toyota forklift achievements

The achievement of Bloemfontein-based Forklift Trucks OFS headed by Theo Mostert, as the top seller of forklifts in South Africa, has focussed the spotlight on the further achievements of Toyota forklifts. The latter is also the biggest supplier in the world, having sold January September 2003 altogether 37 984 units worldwide. Of these, 14 786 were in the USA, followed by Germany with 2 081. South Africa was in 10th place with 916 units. Over the past 15 years just over 10 000 Toyota Forklifts have been delivered in South Africa.

Bethlehem Lugskou besigheidsinspuiting
