Free State salaries above average

According to this year's annual Kelly salary survey, employees in the Free State are doing excellently with average increases in starting salaries well above inflation. Says Kelly managing director, Ms Tracey Czakan: “Top talent is not only in top demand, they are demanding top salaries.” Kelly's 2005 salary survey aggregates information on actual starting salaries for a number of key office job categories across 11 geographical regions, covering the 12 months that ended 30 June 2005. According to this survey the Free State achieved a year-on-year increases of 6.59%, beating the national average increase in starting salaries of 6.57%.
In line with national trends, sales representatives are the clear winners with their 10.13% increase. Across all regions they recorded the highest average increases topping the table with a national average increase of 9.90%. Accounts clerks in the Free State did reasonably well with 4.79%. At the bottom end of the scale, accounts clerks in the Free State can expect to enter the job market on R3 402 per month, on par with most of the regions. At the top end, top performers can earn up to R6 911. Bookkeepers fared a little better at 5.78% on average with top performers earning as much as R10 842 while at entry-level they can expect around R3 317 per month.
“In line with the national trend, receptionists in the region put in an 'averaged' performance with an average increase in starting salaries of 4.92%,” said Czakan. “A vital factor in the workplace is that the demand for top talent is obvious. More importantly though is that companies not only realize the value in employing skilled talent, but the importance of rewarding top performers.”
Kelly was one of the pioneers of the staffing industry in the late 60's and has been instrumental in the revolution of the industry. With more than 43 branches nationwide, Kelly has the largest infrastructure and networked database for personnel supply in SA. Kelly is the only staffing organisation in SA to hold international Investor in People accreditation, full Services SETA 3 Star Grading and a Top 20 Best Company to Work for in SA ranking.
