Highest hidden jewel

The highest waterfall in Southern Africa with a single drop is truly a hidden jewel in the upper highlands of Lesotho – the Semonkong Maletsuane Waterfall with a drop of 192 metres near the village of Semonkong high up in central Lesotho. Reachable only by 4x4 in terms of modern modes of transport, the waterfall is being fed by aquatic swamps located higher up. This photo was taken by Bloemfontein photographer Dries Myburg, reflecting also the stunning scenery of the surroundings – an area now earmarked for agricultural and tourism development by the Lesotho authorities in conjunction with private enterprises. For more info, Myburg can be contacted at 082 566 4439.
