Having been in the soccer wilderness for a number of years, Bloemfontein Celtic earlier this year, after an organisational shake-up by management, started to get their act together with a new spirit, some new players and some unexpected wins.
The team was promoted back to the national Premier Soccer League, competing against the best in the country and winning!
In 2005 Fren-born Paul Dolezar (photo left) was appointed as new coach and since then Bloemfontein Celtic has really started to slaughter the big guns, of which Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are the latest casualties.
This success comes as good news for Bloemfontein and the Free State, also business-wise. It moreover certainly strengthen Bloemfontein's chances of getting awarded a definite venue for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
