Vooruit of agteruit ?
Boer ons in Suid-Afrika oor die algemeen vooruit of agteruit? Die syfers sê werkloosheid en armoede in SA in 2002 is erger as wat dit was in 1994. Tog was die BNP groeikoers vir die land in die eerste kwartaal van 2002 2,2%, wat as bo verwagting goed bestempel word. Vandaar die vraag - boer die land vooruit of agteruit? Dit is ook die vraag wat in die voorbladberig van hierdie uitgawe gestel word.
Inherent aan ekonomiese groei en maatskaplike vooruitgang in die land is die mate waarin
klein-, mikro- en mediumgrootte ondernemings bydra - ook egter 'n sektor wat bly hink en pink. Wat is die redes? In hoeverre kan sakelui in hul beplanning peil trek op
KMMO-ondersteuningsprogramme of moet jy jou eie ding doen en net room skep waar jy kan ?
Hoe is dit in individuele provinsies binne die verspreidingsgebied van Die Sake Bulletin
gesteld ? Wat is die ekonomiese veerkrag, indien enige, van die Vrystaat? Van die
Noord-Kaap ? Van Noordwes Provinsie ? Gauteng daarenteen skyn eenvoudig net die gaping
tussen hom en die ander provinsies te vergroot ?
Die Sake Bulletin nooi sy lesers uit om aan ons te skryf en te sê hoe u oor hierdie vrae en ander verwante kwessies voel.
Bloemfontein cleanest in the Free State ?
Bloemfontein or the greater Mangaung city as it is now called, has been pronounced overall
winner of the Free State leg of the national competition for cleanest city/town. While The
Business Bulletin always tries to be constructive and pro-development, we cannot but
question this "honour" on Bloemfontein / Mangaung. Being aware of the technical
criteria used in the competition and without necessarily doubting the judging process, we
do have to say that based on the facts Bloemfontein / Mangaung is not worthy of the award.
Really, look at: The suffocating litter strewn in streets, on pavements, in public places;
on Naval Hill as a green area; the overgrown and damaged condition of many pavements; the
de-business population and decay of the CBD; the abating string of letters of complaints by residents in local newspapers; etc. Then one cannot but register serious reservations about this award. If this is the Free State's cleanest city/town, what do the others look
like ?
What we furthermore can say, is that our observation is that as far as cleanliness and
upkeep is concerned, Bloemfontein does not compare favourably with any of the other cities
in its region - Welkom, Kimberley and Klerksdorp.
We call on realism- and that third rate conditions be brought up to first class standards
and not the other way round.

Betreffende die Diens Eerste projek van die Vrystaatse Verbruikers-beskemingskantoor (VBK), waaroor uitvoerig berig word in hierdie uitgawe, sê ons graag hartlik geluk aan al die besighede wat al goed genoeg geag is vir die verskillende tipes toekennings, asook aan die VBK vir veral die puik funksie aangebied op 8 Mei 2002 in die Sand Foyer in Bloemfontein. Dit alles is net in belang van alle belanghebbendes.
