Tourism on the move
It is for the Free State Business Bulletin a privilege to present to our readers - business, government, informed people and people interested in business and development in the Free State - this special feature on tourism, commemorating Tourism Month in September. With due respect, we have managed to bring together inputs from the main roleplayers in the province, thus drawing a basic outline of the Free State tourism profile.
We sincerely thank all the participants for their inputs !
The picture emerging is clearly that of a sector on the move. Although still small in terms of percentage contribution to the provincial economy, it is a sector presenting tremendous development potential, especially as regards job creation and income generating. In light of this, the Free State Business Bulletin will have a continuing focus on tourism in the province, not only for the next two editions (beginning and middle of September), but also afterwards round the year. This will manifest in particular in the What's On in the Free State we will be running in the hard copy as well as on our website. With that, the ball has been kicked off and the game for all roleplayers and stakeholders is for the playing.
Misdaad
Ons het dit al baie gesê en dit bly steeds waar - misdaad is die grootste enkele bedreiging vir die toekoms van die mooi land waarin ons woon en ook vir ons provinsie. As mense net toegelaat kan word om sonder vrees vir hul lewe en hul eiendom met hul lewens aan te gaan en veral om spontane entrepreneurskap te beoefen, sal hierdie waarskynlik 'n wenland en 'n wenprovinsie word.
As daar volle ontluiking van entrepreneurskap is en die vrye markmeganisme of tot sy volle reg kom, sal baie ander probleme soos werkloosheid, armoede en die uitvlug van kundigheid daadwerklik aangespreek word. Terwyl die onus vierkantig op die skouers van die owerheid rus om misdaad in die bek te ruk, ook die ontsettende veediefstal in die Vrystaat, wil ons ons entrepreneursklas aanmoedig om die beste van die geleenthede in ons provinsie en in ons land te maak. Hierdie is ook jul geboorteland en jul provinsie. Julle het 'n reg daarop. Staan vas, doen wat julle kan om dit te maak werk en bly bid en glo.
