Munisipale skuld in VS meer as R3 miljard : Na berig word, beloop die uitstaande van munisipaliteite in die Vrystaat meer as R3 miljard groter as die begroting van die Noord-Kaap provinsiale regering. Bo-aan die skuldlys is Matjhabeng Plaaslike Munisipaliteit met R1,008 miljard, gevolg deur Mangaung met R504 miljoen. Ander munisipaliteite wat nog skuld van meer as R100 miljoen moet vereffen, is Dihlabeng Munisipaliteit (Bethlehem-distrik) met sowat R144 miljoen, Maluti a Phofung Munisipaliteit (Harrismith-distrik) met R155 miljoen, Moqhaka Munisipaliteit (Kroonstad-distrik) met R194 miljoen en Metsimaholo Munisipaliteit (Sasolburg-distrik) met nagenoeg R131 miljoen.
Major hotel development for Welkom : It has been announced that a major hotel development, which includes an office block and a conference centre, is to be erected on the Rovers rugby field, Stateway, Welkom, at a cost of R24 million. With Ixhanti Lethu as the developers, the project is expected to be completed within 24 months. The hotel with 60-80 rooms, is to be situated in the restaurant hub of Welkom and adjacent to the casino. However, a suitable hotel group as tenant has still to be chosen.
Universiteitstudente In VS : Volgens syfers verstrek, het die Vrystaatse Universiteit tans 2 650 heeltydse werknemers en sowat 25 000 studente, terwyl die Sentrale Universteit vir Tegnologie 659 heeltydse werknemers en 11 500 studente.
Free State schools drop-out : Free State MEC for Education
Ouma Tsopo, recently said at Thaba Nchu that some 15 000 Free State learners
have dropped out of school. As a result a street survey indicated that lack
of finance, attitude of teachers and lack of discipline among learners are major
reasons.
Gaping tussen “het” en “nie het nie” : Volgens 'n studie van FinScope verdien slegs 1% van alle Suid-Afrikaners meer as R13 000 per maand, terwyl 37% tussen R1 en R750 kry. Die studie toon voorts aan dat altesaam 46% of 13,2 miljoen mense in die huidige volwasse bevolking 'n bankrekening het, terwyl 12,3 miljoen mense of 42% van die volwasse bevolking geen bankrekening het nie. Daarby het 19% van alle Suid-Afrikaners nie 'n identiteitsdokument nie, waarsonder 'n bankrekening nie geopen kan word nie.
Security technicians accredited : For the first time in the history of the South African security industry, a batch of students has officially studied for, and been accredited with, a National Certificate in Electronic Security Practices (ESTNQF). This certificate is recognized by the Department of Labour and it is recognized by the Police, Private Security, Legal, Correctional Services and Justice Sector Education and Training (Poslec) Seta. SMME's artery in China : According to the Chinese news agency,
Xinhua, three out of every four new jobs in China are being created by SMME;s
and the 3,6 million SMME;s in the country fullfill an indispensible role not
only in the labour market, but also in economic growth sectors. SMME;s represent
55,6% of the total Chinese economy, 62,3% of exports, 65% of patent applications
and 75% of technological innovations.
